WHAT IS THE COSMOS CENTRE?

The Cosmos Centre is a part of Queensland’s' Heritage Trail network.

BY DAY:

An interactive area with a short film.

BY NIGHT:

A guided tour of the night sky where visitors have the opportunity to view the heavens through powerful Meade telescopes.

 

WHY CHARLEVILLE ?

Charleville, in Outback Queensland is the ideal place to enjoy the beauty of the night sky. Lack of industrial & light pollution and a low horizon combined with the perfect latitude on the planet earth makes for the perfect conditions for Viewing the Stars, Planets, Milky Way, constellations and distant Star Clusters.

 

HOW MUCH TIME DO I NEED?

By Day:

Visitors spend an average of 1 ¾  hours in the Centre during the day

By Night:

The night observatory experience takes around 1hr 10 minutes.

 

DO I NEED TO BOOK:

ASTRONOMY BY DAY

High Season:

10pm to 5.30pm Daily from April to October

Low Season:

10am to 5pm Daily from November to March

Bookings not required for daytime activities

NIGHT TIME OBSERVATORY:

High Season:

Nightly from April to October

Ring for times.

Low Season:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from November to March
